MEON Road was buzzing with royal wedding fever from the crack of dawn when residents started putting up the bunting and setting up games and food stalls.

Only during the service itself did people return to their own homes to watch television before emerging to a day of fun and laughter with their neighbours.

Around 175 people turned out for the party, organised by Gary and Cloey Alcroft, and attended by residents between the ages of four weeks and 101-years-old.

“When we first moved in we only knew about ten people but now we know people from most of the 90 houses in the road” said Cloey.

“Kate’s dress was beautiful and the service appeared intimate although there were millions around the world watching.”

Resident Tracey Smith added: “Kate looked absolutely beautiful, she is a real princess. We have really enjoyed celebrating with all our neighbours.”

Neighbour Andy Penny added: “Something like this is brilliant – it really brings communities together.”

Young and old enjoyed football, table tennis and numerous other games in the street and there were stalls and barbecues.

The event was formally opened by international darts player Scott Mitchell.

The revellers in Meon Road, Boscombe East were among thousands who headed out on to the streets of Bournemouth after spending the morning watching the moving ceremony.

Parties were held at homes across the borough, as well as lots of official street parties to celebrate the royal occasion.

Flags adorned homes and community centres across the town as everyone got into the spirit of the occasion and enjoyed the public holiday.

In Kinson, scores of people met up on Acres Road communal green to enjoy a disco, quiz, games, tombola and fancy dress party.

And there were also street parties in the Southbourne, Boscombe East and Tuckton areas.

Around 150 people enjoyed music from the Rat Pack at a party in Lombard Avenue in Southbourne.
