IT is not too late to sign up and join in Dorset's Walk for Wildlife and explore some of the most spectacular scenery in the country.

The Daily Echo backed Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) sponsored walk on Sunday September 21 celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Purbeck Marine Wildlife Reserve at Kimmeridge Bay.

To mark three decades of what is the longest established mainland Voluntary Marine Reserve in the UK, there are three brand new routes to choose from, catering for all abilities.

"I can thoroughly recommend having a go at one of the walks," said Steve Davis, who devised the routes. "They all offer some spectacular views as well as winding their ways through some fantastic countryside with some amazing wildlife all around you."

Routes all start and end at the Margaret Green Foundation Trust animal sanctuary at Church Knowle and on the longer walks there are sections through the military ranges, which are usually closed to the public.

The shortest four-mile circular walk goes up onto the Purbeck Hills and promises fantastic views. For the more adventurous, the 13-miler takes in a dramatic section of the coast path and goes west to Tyneham, and can also be run as the Dorset Demon.

Longer sections of the scenic coastal path and Purbeck Hills can be explored on the 22-mile walk.

Everyone who completes one of the routes will receive a specially created ceramic medallion.

All funds raised will go towards supporting the trust's marine education and conservation projects and to encourage some serious fundraising the top money-maker will win a two-night stay for two at the Aramay boutique B&B at St Agnes, Cornwall.

If you don't fancy the walk but would like to help out, DWT is looking for volunteers. You could help book walkers through at checkpoints, welcome weary finishers with a medal or pour out cups of tea.
