A TESCO Express is set to go ahead in the exclusive area of Sandbanks in Poole.

The supermarket giant has acquired the lease and does not need planning permission.

So it would seem all systems go.

But there’s a number of people – 450 and counting – who are objecting to the idea of siting it at the closed Sandacres pub.

There are various reasons why they don’t approve. ‘Not suitable’, ‘will kill off small businesses’, ‘a blot on the landscape’.

There are even threats to boycott it.

Tesco have countered this by saying ‘it will be convenient’, ‘it will regenerate a building no longer in use’ and ‘people support it’.

Only time will tell if this move is successful or if the objectors get their way. But the use of online petitions to get support or object to an idea is a growing one and we will definitely see more of them in the future.

At least you will be able to get reasonably priced food to take to the beach.

Oh but were it a waitrose or m+s then I'm sure it would be a different story. The sandacres pub was a dive. I would rather see someone invest in a quality pub but hey, the place was for sale and tesco got it.

They will be able to object any signs other than existing type signs.
I was against and still am with The Dolphin Pub becoming a Tesco but it has basically retained the character of the building.
The good thing that has come out of it is the cash machine which most agree is most useful when shopping in Aldi.
Aldi only had one till on the go before Tesco arrived opposite now have 4 going at times , I know who has gained from Tesco arrival in Springbourne.

This will not occur in Sandbanks, but Tesco are on the way down so they better have been good to those they passed on the way up.

Remember Woolworths they disappeared.
