IT will be a poignant weekend, as will next Tuesday, Armistice Day. On Sunday the nation will remember the fallen from all conflicts, but it would probably be fair to say that two wars will be much in mind especially.

The First World War as we mark the centenary of its beginning and the war in Afghanistan, where combat operations have just ended after 13 years and the loss of 453 British service personnel.

The poppy garden created by five-year-old Julianna Taylor and her parents is one small but touching tribute. But millions will mark the next few days in their own way.

They will all be fitting.
