OUR stories today on the Poppy Appeal launch in Bournemouth and the end of UK combat operations in Afghanistan are linked of course.
When we buy poppies for this year’s commemorations, we’ll do so to remember those who died in two World Wars, but also the more recent fallen. Like John Thornton and Leigh Mitchelmore who were both killed in Afghanistan.
David Cameron said yesterday Britain would “never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice.” We must ensure we hold all of our politicians to that pledge. It’s one they cannot be allowed to break.
