TODAY marks 100 years since the world changed forever.

Few could have predicted, at the outbreak of the First World War, that four years of horrific bloodshed were ahead.

Today we mark the anniversary with stories from our area and record the events held in memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

They are stories that are replicated across the land and, a century on, we must remember those who gave their today for our tomorrow.
