IT was especially appropriate that David Cameron and George Osborne should come to the Royal Marines base at Poole now. This weekend marks the start of the Great War commemorations, a conflict that began for this country 100 years ago on Monday. As the nation remembers the sacrifices made between 1914-18, the visit of the PM and Chancellor was a reminder of sacrifices in more recent conflicts such as the Falklands, Iraq and Afghanistan. Respect and loyalty were the key messages yesterday. Not things politicians have always shown the military over the years.
