STEALING bikes is now big business.

A few years ago cycles were fairly cheap.

But the growth in cycling for pleasure and as a means of keeping fit has led to an increase in more expensive bikes.

So it makes sense to make sure these bikes are secure at all times.

With 1,581 cycles being stolen in the county last year, Bournemouth council is running an initiative urging cyclists to use D-locks.

The simple message is if you’ve splashed out a lot of money on a new bike ensure it has a security device to deter thieves.
