BOSCOMBE’S problems are well documented, but so are the authorities’ attempts to solve them.

For that, they must be applauded. Some will say that news today of security guards being given policing powers is private policing, or policing on the cheap.

But Dorset Police insists that it will not replace traditional policing, but rather give Boscombe a dedicated, highly-visible presence.

For now, we have to trust in that and back it.

The community is getting behind it and, at the end of the day, it can do no harm.
