RESIDENTS in one part of Poole are jubilant today. But the mood may not be so good within a few weeks.
Attempts by council leaders to find temporary sites for travellers were aimed at preventing a repeat of the expensive chaos caused by illegal camps in Poole last summer at places like Baiter, Whitecliff and Branksome. Providing such transit sites would enable police and the court to enforce quicker action.
If the gypsy and traveller issue is ever going to be sorted, then a site will have to be found. Anyone who thinks otherwise is burying their head in the sand.
