THE attempt to rescue Charlotte Furness-Smith, though ultimately unsuccessful, showed the very best of our emergency services, both full-time and voluntary.
Over several hours, a very large number of people were involved in trying to save Miss Furness - Smith who became trapped at Tilly Whim Caves while coasteering with her brother.
At the end of a two-day inquest, the Dorset coroner said that the pair had put themselves in a “risky situation.”
They are not the first - and will not be the last, to put the emergency services in that position too.
