LAST year Dorset County Council spent somewhere in the region of £10,000 clearing up the mess left behind on the A338 by drivers. The operation followed a story by this newspaper about the extent of the littering and the discovery of, among other items, a greenhouse and the remnants of a cannabis factory.

The road is back to where it was and will need another clean sweep and the depressing thing is it is like painting the Forth Bridge. Finish the job and then pretty much start all over again. DCC and other councils have better things to spend their limited cash on than lazy, thoughtless drivers and flytippers.
