THE weather will improve sooner or later but flooding misery is set to continue for some time as water levels carry on rising.

The political fallout shows no sign of subsiding either with blame being liberally showered around by all and sundry and an outbreak of infighting among government ministers.

David Cameron has promised that money is no object in the relief effort and he has instructed councils to spend “whatever it takes” to shore up defences. If these are the same councils that already have huge financial problems and big savings to make, that may be easier said than done.
