Crackdown is welcome

ON the surface of it, it sounds like a good idea and it has strong public backing.
Bournemouth council is aiming to crack down on alcohol-related bad behaviour by giving the police discretionary powers to confiscate booze in public places throughout the borough.
There may be teething problems to start with and there may be issues with enforcement. There will also be critics of what, on paper, appears to be a good initiative.
If it eases the fears and concerns of a number of residents and visitors then it has to be welcomed.
