THE words of local GP Mark Smith are something of an indictment.

He was “stupid enough to believe” that Doris Jones has been fully X-rayed at Poole casualty department and had no fractures.

In fact, the 93-year-old had a broken leg and died two weeks later of bronchial pneumonia brought on by immobility.

Paperwork outlining what was done took two weeks to arrive from Poole. By then it was too late.

This is yet another sorry tale of a patient being failed. In this case she paid with her life.
