Radical ideas as cuts bite

DORSET’S chief constable and police commissioner are looking at ways to save money – a process that has been going on for some time now.
As all organisations in the public sector are finding in this so-called age of austerity, the longer it continues, the more difficult it becomes to find ‘efficiency savings.’
Police Federation representatives are urging the public to oppose measures such as closing police counters or reducing opening hours.
Opposing cuts is the easy bit. As David Trenchard says in a different context, radical ideas are what’s needed.
