ILLEGAL traveller encampments made a few headlines in the Echo this summer.
So it’s heartening to report today that Dorset County Council is tackling the issue. Committee members have recommended establishing a temporary transit site at either Weymouth or Piddlehinton.
And there are plans to secure a temporary transit site at the Great Dorset Steam Fair for another five years.
But we all know, identifying sites is often the easy bit. Persuading residents who live nearby that these sites are the best option is often the hardest.
