Wind farm jobs debate
10:16am Thursday 5th September 2013 in Opinion
BOURNEMOUTH’S head of tourism Mark Smith claims the proposed wind farm, which could be built 12 miles off the town’s coast, will lose thousands of jobs in the industry.
He’s based his comments on surveys which say that up to a third of all visitors could be deterred from holidaying here during the three-year construction period.
Applicants Navitus Bay say that means two thirds would come and there would be new jobs created by the project.
Hopefully this debate will encourage more people to view the plans as the company embarks on another round of consultation shortly.
