LOSING your hair to alopecia can be devastating.
The condition destroys self-confidence and has even been linked to suicides.
Only a very strong person could find something positive in the experience. And the Echo reports on exactly such a person today.
Vicki Sampson, 28, admitted there was a point she “hit rock bottom” and did not want to leave the house. But rock bottom is the ideal place from which to start bouncing back.
“One day I just decided to go for it. As soon as I completely shaved my head and went public, I felt better for it,” she says.
Yesterday, Vicki spent around four hours having her head tattooed, raising money for Alopecia UK in the process.
Vicki’s story ought to offer inspiration to anyone experiencing the trauma she went through.
She should look in the mirror today and feel proud.
