A much-needed boost for Dorset
10:00am Friday 25th January 2013 in Opinion
THERE’S some good news at Bournemouth Airport for transatlantic travellers.
Aer Lingus is re-scheduling its flight from the airport to Dublin from July which means it will land in the Irish capital in time to meet onward flights to the USA.
Waiting times should only be two hours for a connection and flights will rise from four days a week to six.
A bonus is that passengers will be able to check-in directly through to their final destination and clear US customs in Ireland.
This should prove more convenient for all travellers who currently drive to other airports for such flights.
And it may also encourage a few more people from this region to fly to the States and use Bournemouth Airport and its facilities.
We echo the sentiments of local tourism chiefs that hope the move will encourage more visitors from the USA to Dorset.
It sounds like a win-win situation all round.
