ARSON attacks have been causing much alarm in West Howe, Bournemouth.

Between April 1 and October 22 there were 33 reported incidents. That’s virtually one a week.

And at the weekend it’s suspected there were four more.

On this occasion two mobility scooters were set alight at garages in one incident, while there were three separate bin fires.

All this causes much distress to the victims and headaches for the emergency services.

As Dave Graham, fire station manager at Redhill Park, said: “Arson is a mindless act which can not only cause serious damage but also ties up our crew’s time and resources when they could be dealing with a real emergency.”

And that’s the nub of it.

The perpetrators’ stupid actions are costing the taxpayer vital money that could be put to much better use.
