THERE are plenty of opportunities for families to enjoy Bridport’s From Page to Screen film festival.

The UK’s only film festival dedicated to the adaption of books into films takes place from Apri 10 to 14.

Screenings of children’s films will be at 11am from the Wednesday to the Saturday in the Hayloft above The Stable, behind the Bull Hotel in East Street, at the Electric Palace and at Bridport Arts Centre.

From Page to Screen committee member Ines Cavill said: “This year’s family screenings promise to take young film buffs on a diverse tour of some of the finest adaptations in cinema history.”

At every screening there will be free squash from the Bull Hotel and themed biscuits from Leakers Bakery, and at lunchtimes The Stable will be serving junior film fans pizza.

Each day one golden ticket will win a different prize. Simon Dunn Chocolates is providing a handmade Wonka bar for Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Instant Redress is giving piratical props for The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists!, an archery set from Toymaster will be presented to Robin Hood’s winner and Ponyo’s prize is a fancy pair of ‘Phantom’ swimming goggles from Bridport Sports. The film Submarine will be presented by its author and this year’s guest curator Joe Dunthorne.

For teenagers there is the screening of Life of Pi, an advance screening of the new Neil Jordan vampire thriller Byzantium, and two comic book adaptations.

The festival will also feature Clueless, the radical re-telling of Jane Austen’s Emma.
