The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals have been named Acute Organisation of the Year by the Health Service Journal as part of its annual awards. Further confirmation that the Foundation Trust is providing excellent quality services by dedicated staff.
The Outstanding Acute Organisation of the Year Award is the most prestigious award available for a hospital to win. Tony Spotswood, Chief Executive, said: “I am absolutely delighted and very proud of our staff who have all contributed to this award. Both they and our patients can also be proud of the services and care that we provide.”
The Foundation Trust was judged by the Health Service Journal against the following criteria:
• Clear evidence of real change and transformation on the organisations principle aims in the last 2-3 years
• A joined up organisational journey – not just a few pockets of excellence
• The change(s) should be replicable – so others can learn from it
• The change has no set pre-cursors required –such that “any good leadership could do this”
• There has to be a “Wow” factor – such that it would make others feel they wanted to send staff there to pick up the things they can learn from
• There should be an evidence base together with an energetic culture
• The organisation can demonstrate that it is pushing the envelope of what good management should be focussed on
As part of the application the Trust also had to supply various data such as patient satisfaction survey results and the percentage of emergency patients discharged on the same day of admission. The Health Service Journal is the leading national journal of healthcare. The awards, which were introduced by Health Secretary Andy Burnham, celebrate ‘all the excellence, endeavour, innovation and inspiration that is found throughout the healthcare profession.
The HSJ Awards exist to ensure individuals and teams are recognised and rewarded for their work that truly raises the standard of healthcare in the UK.’ You can read more by click link below.
