Mel B on the health regime that helps her keep that killer figure

FORMER Spice Girl Mel B has revealed her health and wellbeing secrets behind her killer figure, and hopes that her healthy lifestyle will have a positive influence on her two young children.

Mel, 35, says: “I’ve got a gym at home so I have no excuse for not keeping fit!

“I try to fit in about 30 minutes of cardio every day, freeweights and then stretches to tone up my stomach.

“Working out with other people helps my motivation so I usually persuade my girlfriends to come around. Then we gossip as we work out and time flies.”

The actress is the new host of American dance show, Dance Your Ass Off, and lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Stephen Belafonte and her two children, Phoenix Chi, 11, and Angel Iris, two.

She says: “I really got back into fitness after I had Angel, as I wanted to lose my pregnancy weight.

“I eat healthily, and I make sure the kids do too. I want them to grow up with good health habits and routines that will stand them in good stead for their adult lives.”

Juggling her career and the family means a busy schedule, and she’s saving time by having healthy meals delivered to her door by a specialist company.

And she says: “I want to shift a few pounds and this means I have diet-conscious meals to hand.

“I’m so lucky that Stephen is a great cook, and does nearly all the cooking at home. I adore his roast dinners, like turkey, beef and chicken with all the trimmings.

“But our treat day is on Sundays. We all eat whatever we want – takeaway pizza is a favourite as we snuggle up together and watch DVDs.”

She credits regular exercise with keeping her wellbeing stable, and says: “My feel-good philosophy is life’s too short not to have fun.

“Looking after myself so that I feel healthy and good about my appearance is important for my confidence and self-esteem.”

And Mel’s top beauty tips don’t come with a Hollywood price tag.

She says: “I use hot olive-oil treatments on my hair, and sometimes make exfoliating body scrubs with ingredients like sugar, olive oil and honey."
