Online readers pour scorn on Boscombe surf reef

DAILY Echo online readers have heaped scorn on Boscombe surf reef after a marine expert gave it a score of just four out of ten.

Dr Mark Davidson of Plymouth University told the Daily Echo the £3 million tourist attraction is not performing and falls short on a number of criteria.

Petty Babcock, from Poole said: “What a flop, second only to the Imax” while MJD, from Hamworthy, joked: “There are more ripples in a Cadbury’s Ripple.”

Alchemist, of Bournemouth, was in a more forgiving mood, saying: “Why must we always promote the negative and not the positive?”

Jobsworthwatch, Bournemouth, suggested a marina would be “more use than a reef” while the irate commuter asked: “Will we see heads roll? As likely as a big wave crashing onto Boscombe beach.”

Phixer joined in the debate, adding: “It doesn’t take an O-level in geography to realise sheltered Poole Bay was never going to produce surfing waves.”

DorsetOnSea had a novel suggestion: “Take all those sand bags, empty them, add some cement and fix the A31.”

Xchurch-man said: “It will never work, it is a waste of space and money” while FOSF, Bournemouth, branded the reef “a diabolical disaster”.

KLH, Bournemouth, said: “Rip the whole thing out” while lovetheuk sympathised with the investors “who have bought into a lame duck”.

Buy something.
Find it not suitable for the purpose for which it was intended.
Take it back.
Get money back.
Simples!

Blimey, hardly a news story. Readers have poured scorn on the surf reef whenever it has been mentioned on this site (and often enough when it has not been mentioned).

only because the track record for the product was not enough to gamble on with so much of peoples business's and futures at stake. A risk minimisation strategy was obviously missing for the towns economic and reputations protection.
Yes Prof its the local financial and reputation meltdown because all the eggs were kept in one basket when the handle broke.

Ahoy Brethren,
My question regarding Mr Roger Browns (possible) promotion or new titled responsibilities indeed be serious and not my usual humorous waffle Har.
Be Mr Brown elevated, I assume this new status be rewarded with ‘more’ gold coins and in turn an increase in pensions. Taking him into retirement (soon?) with even more of the Brethrens monies? And I for one find that prospect disgusting.
Shame that yer ‘Cabinet’ not be paid on related performance?
