KEITH Barnett of Ferndown said he was an apprentice at the Southern Electric showroom at the cross road near to the yellow bus in the picture of Southbourne Grove printed on October 11.
On his first visit he met Jack Ball, the storeman, who had a limp. He learnt that his father, Phil Barnett, who had connections with St John Ambulance, came to Jack's aid when he was knocked down in Ashley Road, between the British Legion and Southcote Road. After placing him on a stretcher, he was quickly carried over the railway bridge to Boscombe Hospital.
