PETER Sykes of Swanage said the picture of the open tour charabanc on its way to the New Forest from Bournemouth Square circa 1923 printed on April 26 is a Royal Blue charabanc no.12 built by Daimler Co.Ltd in Coventry.
Thomas Elliott founded Royal Blue Coaches in 1880 as there was no direct rail link to Bournemouth from London.
The original solid tyres on the charabanc have been replaced by products from the Dunlop Tyre Co., hence the rear placard proclaiming 'Pneumatic tyres mean comfort'.
Tours from Bournemouth to the New Forest were very popular with many departing each day in the summer.
