PETER Hibberd sent in this photograph of some of the students of the Barbara Cain Ballroom Dancing School in the early 1950s and wonders if readers recognise any of the dancers or have memories of the dance school which was based at Wallisdown.
Barbara Cain married Peter's brother Ted Hibberd and they now live near Bristol in Gloucestershire.
Peter has identified the following, back row, Ted Hibberd on the far left, Peter and Jimmy Frampton who used to live in Kinson Road, East Howe. Peter Hibberd is to the right of the middle ladies and has lived in America since 1970. Peter has recently been advised that Jimmy has passed away.
In the front row, left to right are Shelagh, Pamela Vowles, who lived on Kingsmere Avenue, Ensbury Park, Barbara, and Janet L Brackstone, who lived in Columbia Road, Bournemouth, and has since been in touch with Peter.
Most of the students at the school were born between 1933 and 1943 and many would have been teenagers.
Any thoughts and information on the dance school would be much appreciated as Peter would like to share them with Ted and Barbara for their 61st wedding anniversary in August. It would be nice for her to understand what became of the dancers she taught all those years ago.
