PETER Sykes of Swanage, said Paul Shee’s photograph of Boscombe Chine Gardens with the Linden Hall Hotel in the distance dates between 1895-1899. The upper sections of the gardens, including the rustic bridge, were laid out between 1868-71. A concrete bridge replaced the rustic one in 1924.
Linden Hall Hotel was originally a 10-roomed house called Linden Vale. The hotel was extended between 1893-1899. It became the Linden Hall Hydro in 1934 when a swimming and sports stadium was added.
During the war the hotel was requisitioned by the Americans. Later the hotel and then the sports facilities were demolished and replaced by flats.
