Bournemouth's charms have been attracting tourists for generations and this charming footage shows what the town had to offer more than 80 years ago.

Billed as the "famous all seasons resort of Bournemouth", the travelogue from British Pathé gives a guided tour of the town and neighbouring areas in the 1930s.

Starting with a trip on the Bournemouth Belle, the narrator describes Bournemouth as a town of "amazing growth" that 80 years before was a "village of 600 souls". By the 1930s it had become 130,000.

Games of Bournemouth’s past such as logrolling and even ice skating on stilts are also mentioned in the film which were once part of its summer programme.

The wide promenade, golden beaches, ice rink and its bowling green which was once the "largest in the world" are also highlighted, along with the indoor swimming baths which cost £100,000 to build.
