Echo employee Mrs Sue Mathison ( nee Turner ) brought in a photograph of pupils and staff at Beaufort School in Southbourne taken in March 1969.

Because the picture is so long it is only possible to show two of the four sections. Sue appears in the section where the female staff, near the bottom of the picture, are wearing lighter coloured clothing. She is in the back row, seventh from the left.

Sue has identified in both sections the headmaster Mr Wise and some of the teachers such as the deputy head Mrs Sephton, Mr Cook and Mr Westbrook who taught Maths, head of P.E. Mr Moyse and Miss Grimes who taught the girls physical education.

She has also named some of the pupils she knew like Jacqueline Mason, Phyllis Archer, Linda Eglington, Sue Pople, Pauline Hall and Steve Moss.

Beaufort School was established in 1963 after the amalgamation of Stourfield and Boscombe County Secondary Schools. The school closed in 1987 with pupils and staff transferring to Summerbee School.
