They were once important meeting places for generations but scores of pubs across Dorset have closed in recent years.

Now, pubs which have disappeared from town centres and residential streets are being documented in an online library.

The Lost Pubs Project has thousands of images of pubs that have either been demolished, turned into something else, or have simply shut down, with details of what happened to each.

The site, closedpubs.co.uk, is regularly updated and anyone is welcome to contribute with any images or pub history they have to offer.

Pubs in every town across the area have disappeared over the years as drinking cultures have changed.

The website features pubs such as The Criterion in Bournemouth town centre, Christchurch's New Inn and the Darbys Corner Inn which once stood in Poole.

The list has been updated with suggestions added by readers but we'd love to hear more.

Can you name any others? you can comment below or email your suggestions to digital@bournemouthecho.co.uk
