Bournemouth historian Peter Kazmierczak said the postcard of the beach and cliffs at Boscombe looking east printed on July 22 illustrates how much that part of Boscombe has changed over the years. The postcard belongs to Anthony Beare and has a postmark of 1913.
The building on the cliff edge, directly above the bathing machines, was known as 'The Bungalow'. By the early 1930s it was St George's Preparatory School for Girls.
The houses behind are on The Marina. The road had eight properties with names like Wiveton Hall, Elmerston, Kilmorie and, most appropriately, Channel View. This was a short cul-de-sac, before it was extended eastwards to join Michelgrove Road.
