ROBERT Owen of Swanage contacted the Echo after seeing the article on Concorde’s visit to Bournemouth Airport printed on November 26.
In the 1970s Robert learned to fly at Bournemouth Flying Club.
He bought a new single engine Grummam AA5 with seating for four and used it for business to get to Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool as well as destinations further away in Europe such as Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Paris.
The small aircraft enabled him to get there and back within the day.
Robert would often bump into Peter Bath of Bath Travel in the terminal at Bournemouth Airport whilst he was preparing to receive passengers and they would exchange banter and a joke.
One time when he was returning to Bournemouth Airport and was cleared through London airspace he noticed Concorde was also cleared 1000ft below him.
He managed to take the private pilot’s dream shot of the supersonic airliner.
