SQUAD: Ferndown British Legion football team circa 1960
GEORGE Granville Dance of Blandford contacted the Echo after seeing himself in the back row of the picture of the Ferndown British Legion football team printed in August and then on September 24. He was able to identify the two unknown players.
The line up should now read as back row, from the left, Tony Talbot, Ernest Howard, Eric Ralph Hames, Albert Hawker, Bob King and George Granville Dance. Front row, Ray Lloyd, John Roberts, Len Hawker, Pat Joyce and John Barnes.
Former grounds worker for Worgret Construction, George has always been involved with football. He was the manager at Verwood and today watches Okeford Fitzpaine FC, near his home.
