THE photograph of Boscombe Secondary School Band printed on May 28 and again on July 16 brought back many memories for Stephanie Vincent of Bournemouth.

Stephanie was one of several people who went to Dean Court football on Saturdays when the reserve team played. The band would play in the middle of the pitch at half time and they would collect money for them. The band was good, they were very proud of them. She identified the boy holding the bass in the centre of the picture is Robert Philip, who later joined the Blues and Royals. He now lives in London and still has a career in music.

Stephanie also thinks the face just behind the shoulder of Danny Newman, the head boy of the school receiving a letter from Bournemouth mayor Cllr Alban Adams, is that of Kevin Legg.

She said Boscombe Secondary School had strong discipline, sending its pupils into the world well prepared for the jobs market. Sadly the school closed down and the pupils merged with those at Stourfield School around 1964. The building then became a primary school.
