Mrs Pauline Giles (nee Rees) of Christchurch, an instructor at Westover Ice Rink in Bournemouth in the 1950s and 60s, sent in a photograph of herself with some of her pupils.

The girl in the spotted dressed on the left in the middle row, next to Pauline, is Ann Sidney, who later in 1964 was crowned Miss World.

Pauline also appeared in several shows at the ice rink. She and her partner, Jackie Vincent, played the Ugly Sisters in Cinderella on Ice which was the first ice pantomime to be televised by the BBC in 1954.

The ice rink attracted many stars of the ice and stage, such as Torville and Dean and Robin Cousins. Pauline not only taught Ann Sidney, but the singer Frankie Vaughan and for one particular competition, the singer and actress, Anita Harris.

Contact Echoes if you can name anyone else in the picture or if you were a former pupil of hers as she would love to hear from you.
