Charles Gallois wonders if readers have any information on this old photograph he found in his late uncle’s possessions. The picture, taken in the Stalag B Prisoner of War camp in Poland during the Second World War, shows a group of prisoners, including his uncle Sgt Francis Grey of the Warwickshire Regiment, who is in the middle of the front row.
Francis was wounded during the retreat to Dunkirk and was left behind in a French hospital. He was then interned in various POW camps.
Written on the reverse of the picture is the name W.G. Daniels and an address of Red Cottages, Hurn near Christchurch, Hants.
On one of his regular visits to Christchurch, Charles visited Red Cottages, but was unable to trace Mr Daniels.
He is now appealing for any relatives of Mr Daniels who he hopes might still live in the Christchurch area and might be able to recognise him or anyone else in the photograph to contact him at joycegallois@aol.com or Echoes.
