Most of us are excited about the prospect of the Christmas festivities this week, but what about those who don’t sense the “tidings of great joy”?
The Metropolitan Community Church (MCC) in Bournemouth has just the thing for those who feel a little bit more “bah-humbug” than “peace on earth”! Their Blue Christmas service is for those who are feeling, well, “blue”.
Rev Dwayne Morgan said: “Many people struggle for various reasons in life and those struggles are often compounded during a season when we’re expected to be full of joy and peace.
“Some hate Christmas and we want to provide a place where it’s OK for them to say so, in a church of all places!
“Christmas isn’t about a beautiful Madonna with a baby in her arms.
“It’s about an unplanned pregnancy, a distrusting spouse, a rushed marriage, a ruler trying to kill your baby and a poor peasant girl giving birth in a barn with smelly shepherds for midwives.
“It’s definitely a message for those struggling and feeling blue!”
Blue Christmas service is on Monday at 7.30pm at MCC in Hannington Road. See mccbournemouth.co.uk
