THE county's joint adult learning service has been graded 'Good' following two inspections by Ofsted.
The service, which covers Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole and is run by the three top tier councils, was last visited by inspectors last year.
It was graded 'Good' for overall effectiveness, quality of teaching and learning and effectiveness of leadership and management.
According to a report by Bournemouth council's service director for community learning and commissioning, Neil Goddard, the service was told it must "raise pass rates on courses leading to national qualifications by making sure that learners are on the most appropriate courses and that they receive excellent feedback to help them progress".
Other required improvements were to provide further staff training on how to improve English and maths skills among their students and on how to train them to use IT learning resources effectively.
The report concludes that the service "has been recognised for successfully developing the curriculum to provide suitable, high-quality courses for local people and successfully recruiting and supporting disadvantaged learners and progressing them into work, volunteering or further learning".
