APPLICATIONS are now being taken for primary school admissions in September 2016.
Those with children born between September 1 2011 and August 31 2012 have until January 15 to apply.
In Poole the Family Information Service, currently situated in the Welcome Area in the Dolphin Centre, is offering help with applications.
A spokesman said: "It is recommended that you go and see the schools you might like your child to attend before submitting an application. Most schools hold open days to make it easier to visit your preferences, and meeting the teachers and viewing the school can be invaluable in ensuring you are happy with your child’s journey into school life.
"Starting school is a big step for parents and children alike – with lots of excitement and nerves."
