FOOTBALL legend Matt Le Tissier has teamed up with The Arnewood School in New Milton to search for the soccer stars of tomorrow.

The former England and Southampton player is launching a new branch of his Natural Coaching School at Arnewood.

Trials will be held on March 10 and 17 to select about 20 boys and girls for each age group, from under 7s to under 12s.

He will also officially open the school’s new Astro Turf pitch on March 17 – an all-weather facility that will not only be used by Arnewood students and Matt Le Tissier’s coaching school but also the wider New Milton community.

He said: “We want to give the kids an environment to learn how to become better players – where they are not frightened to try things, or worried they will be shouted at by their coach if they give the ball away.

“We want to give them the freedom to become the best player they can be and the environment where they can achieve that.”

Since setting up the school in Southampton, Le Tissier has developed an extensive coaching team, led by former Saints teammate Francis Benali and the experienced Jody Rivers.

Executive headteacher of The Arnewood School, Chris Humm-erstone, said: “We are thrilled that someone of Matt Le Tissier’s calibre will be using our fantastic new Astro Turf pitches.

“We are also honoured that Matt himself will officially open the new pitches when he comes to our school on March 17.”

The coaching school will meet every Tuesday and more details are available from mltnatural coaching.com or by calling Steve Phillips on 07415 888851.

The Astro Turf pitch, which will have floodlights, is available for hire to local clubs and organisations.
