BIDDING is under way for funding to add the finishing touches to Bournemouth’s stunning Studio School.

Plans for a 50m swimming pool and a 3G football pitch have been approved for the school, situated on the LeAF campus in Kinson.

But the school needs to attract more funding to see the dreams become reality.

Commercial project manager Dan Hunter, right, an Olympic volleyball player, is keen to raise awareness of the state-of-the-art facilities already on offer on the campus.

And he would like to hear from potential funding partners who could help turn the Studio School into a “mini-Bath Uni-versity.”

Students between the ages of 14 and 19 balance their trad-itional studies with intensive sport or stage training. Sports on offer include weightlifting, volleyball, golf, cricket, badminton and swim-ming. Stage students benefit from music recording studios, dance studios and high-quality lessons in musical theatre, acting and production.

“We are looking for people who want to get involved in something unique” said Dan.

“This school is open all year round and the facilities are also available to local groups who want to use the facilities. It is time to pull together to fund it.”

Joe Arundel, a triathlete from Kinson, said: “I’ve been here for seven years and seen it grow. I took part in my first European Cup competitions this year and being here helps me organise my training.”
