BOTH of Bournemouth’s universities have slipped in this year’s Good University guide rankings.

Bournemouth University (BU) has dropped 21 places in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2015, leaving it in 88th position.

And Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) has slipped seven places from 52nd to 59th.

Out of the 11 universities in the South West, Exeter University came out on top in this year’s guide after being ranked as the seventh best university nationally.

AUB came in as the fifth top university in the region and BU finished up in tenth.

The influential guide for would-be students will be published in full in this week’s Sunday Times.

A spokesman from Bournemouth University said: “We are aware of the published Times university league tables and are reviewing the results.

“As a University, we have had a landmark year, are making significant investment in our Estate and our recruitment for 2014 has been our highest ever.

“We are currently welcoming these new students to our community.

“The league table offers one perspective and our recent Quality Assurance Agency endorsement as the ‘first University in England to be commended for the quality of our student learning opportunities’ speaks for the student experience at Bournemouth University.”
