DRAMA students from Bournemouth and Poole College have been bringing history to life for visitors to the Tank Museum in Bovington.

Dressed up as First World War soldiers and nurses, they can be found in their bell tent just outside the entrance or visitors can see them out and about around the Museum.

Cameron Ritchie, dressed as a soldier, said, “Talking to the children has been a real highlight for me, they're always interested in what we're doing and our replica rifles of course.

"One child even asked me if I'd travelled here in a time-machine. The adults have had some great stories as well, about their ancestors who fought in the war.”

While the soldiers perform drills and talk about their rifles and uniforms, the nurses 'treat' wounded soldiers and are always happy to answer questions about what they do and why.

Jenna Hibbs, acting as a nurse, said, “Talking to people about nursing in the First World War has been a fantastic experience It's amazing to hear how much the children have picked up. We're all in uniform and I think it really adds to the atmosphere at the museum.”

The actors will be at the museum every weekday throughout the summer holidays and also play a part in the museum's new First World War themed Tanks in Action display. Tanks in Action displays take place every weekday during the summer holidays, at 2pm.
