The Royal Family really is embracing the 21st century – finally.
Three years ago the Royal Channel on Youtube was created, but then it all went a bit quiet on one’s technology front.
However, recently an official Royal Twitter page sprang up, followed by a revamp of the Royal website, and now the Queen and co have even decided to share some pictures of Royal life through the ages with the public.
The Royal Family’s newly created flickr account is the latest attempt by the monarchy to move with the times and get closer to the people.
Over 600 photos from recent royal events and archive pictures are available on their flickr page – an online photo sharing website where members post pictures for others to view.
From now on keen royal-watchers will be kept abreast of the Queen’s official engagements, as well as those of other Royal Family members, with plans to update the royal flickr account with pictures on a regular basis.
The flickr account has been divided into two categories – the Royal Collection, which contains pictures of all the Queen’s children and grandchildren growing up, and the Victorian pictures.
Within The Royal Family section, each royal has their own collection of photos.
Prince Harry is shown as a newborn baby, in the arms of his mother Diana, Princess of Wales. His older brother, Prince William, is pictured as a youngster with his parents and sibling, on exercise with the Royal Navy in the Caribbean and both the brothers appear meeting David Beckham in South Africa.
One can also see images of Queen Elizabeth II as a baby and early pictures of Queen Victoria and other leading figures from the era are in the Victorian pictures section.
It is also believed that the Queen has her own laptop and is even au fait with texting, but, rather bizarrely, Buckingham Palace “never comments on her personal use of technology”.
