What's more distracting to drivers, Stonehenge or David Beckham in pants?

Stunning monuments such as Stonehenge are far more distracting to motorists than David Beckham in his underpants, a survey has revealed.

The injured England star’s advert for Armani which appeared on huge billboards was only the ninth most distracting thing for drivers in a poll from insurance company Zurich Connect. Attractive women topped the list of things most likely to put drivers off, with Stonehenge and other heritage sites in second place.

I can vouch for the many roadside attractions that vie for your attention as a driver and have caught people doing some downright bizarre things in their cars.

Sure, we live in a fast-paced society and it can be difficult to fit everything into the day. But there is a time and a place where it’s sensible not to multi-task. This would definitely include while operating a moving vehicle.

The obvious ones would be swigging alcohol or chatting on a mobile phone without a hands-free kit, both of which are illegal.

Perhaps the most common distraction while driving is having a bite to eat. I always see drivers trying to cram a pasty into their mouths or dangling a slice of pizza. They must have great hand and eye co-ordination, as I can barely get food in my mouth when I am at the table, let alone while trying to manoeuvre a vehicle.

Personal grooming is another distraction that happens frequently on the road. I’m guilty of checking myself out in the rear view mirror, but I’ve watched some driver’s putting on a full slap of make-up.

One wrong move and they could have an eye out with that mascara wand or else look like a clown when they reach their destination.

The most revolting distraction behind the wheel is picking your nose. Do they really think that no one can see them doing that?
