HERE'S some free food for thought! A host of independent foodie hotspots in Bournemouth will be serving free organic breakfasts on Wednesday, June 14.

The aim is to show how simple it can be to switch to an organic breakfast to start your day as part of a nationwide campaign 'Wake Up To Organic'.

Stores will be tempting visitors with tasty treats, alongside cookery demos, talks from chefs and bloggers as well as opportunities to meet local producers.

Free organic breakfast tastings will be available at local stores including Sunrise Organics, Earth Foods, branches of Discount Health Stores and Gulliver’s Farm shop.

Here are some organic breakfast recipes to wake up your taste buds.

Avocado and Frozen Berry Smoothie Bowl from Annie's Dorset Kitchen

Ingredients

1 avocado peeled chopped

1 avocado seed (optional if you have a high powered blender)

120g frozen berries

300ml coconut water

1-2 tablespoons of chia seeds

1 tablespoon of bee pollen

1 dessert spoon of spirulina, wheatgrass or chlorella

1 lemon peeled and chopped

1 carrot peeled, top and tailed and chopped

1 beetroot bulb, top and tailed and chopped

Method

Blend together with a hand blender, or in a blender or high powered bl

ender, put in bowls

and decorate with toppings of your choice. Enjoy!

Baked Eggs and Firecracker Bacon from The Well Hung Meat Company

Ingredients

2 organic eggs,

3 rashers of organic firecracker bacon,

1 small baguette cut into slices,

A little butter,

A little oil for greasing,

Salt and pepper to season (if required).

Method

Preheat the oven to 180c. Beat the two eggs in a bowl and set aside.

Cut the firecracker bacon into small pieces and add to the beaten eggs. Season if necessary.

Mix until evenly combined.

Lightly grease a small oven-proof pan. Add the egg and bacon mixture. Then

place in the oven and leave to cook for 15 minutes or until cooked through.

Place a small amount of butter in a frying pan and heat. Add your baguette slices to the

now heated butter and fry on either side for about 30 seconds or until golden. Serve

alongside the baked eggs and bacon.
