PETER Sykes of Swanage said the postcard of East Beach, Bournemouth, printed on January 20 shows the Bolson's Jetty opposite the first block of beach huts which opened in 1948 and was still present in 1972.
J Bolson and Son Ltd had the concession to hire out rowing boats from the East Beach near the pier.
Extreme left are the Cloister Shelters which were part of the first stage of the Undercliff Drive development.
Above the shelters on Bath Road are the Lynwood Hotel, Kildare Hotel and Rothesay Hotel, demolished in 1971 and now the site of Bath Road South Car Park.
