CATS, dogs, guinea pigs and ferrets are all in need of loving new homes.

Margaret Green Animal Rescue, which is based at Church Knowle in Wareham and Lincoln Farm in Blandford, has revealed details of a number of animals looking to be re-homed.

Pixie the cat is “a sweet girl”, according to rescue staff, but is in an anxious state at the moment. The seven-year-old feline is slowly starting to trust staff and is “very lovely” once she gets to know people.

She should be find to live with another cat, but would not want to live with a dog as she has never met one before. She would prefer to be in an adult-only home because of her anxiety.

Six-year-old Stella Bear is also hoping to find her forever home. Lucy Compton, fundraising and marketing manager for Margaret Green, said: “She is a very loving girl and loves to have cuddles on people’s laps, but she is quite nervous and would need her confidence building before she will fully trust you.

“She would need to be in a home with no young children and would need to be the only pet.”

Max and Milly are two Labradors currently staying at the rescue centre. Five-year-old Max is a chocolate Labrador looking for a loving family to give him a forever home.

Lucy said: “He is a very sweet, playful lad who is currently on a diet as he needs to lose quite a bit of weight.

“He is very affectionate and also smart so he’ll be a great companion for his new family. He’d prefer to be the only dog in the home but could live with children five and over.

“Milly is a pretty eight-year-old Labrador,” she continued. “She enjoys being out and about, despite her age, and still has a lot of energy. She is a very sweet girl, and she can’t wait to meet her new family.”

Smaller pets Nutmeg, Angus and Harvey are three guinea pigs who are “very vocal and love chatting to people,” Lucy says. They are all eleven months old. Nutmeg is brown and white, Angus is brown and ginger, and Harvey is white. They are friendly and enjoy cuddles.

Finally, ferret friends Ida and Panda are looking for a new family who are experienced in owning ferrets and have a lot of time to spend with them as they are quite wary. They are eight months old.
